Notes

An Ras Mor 5k in Cambridge, first race of the USATF-NE Grand Prix this year.

This race was a nice kick in the ass. Competitive! Got sucked out faster than planned and was still wayy back, first quarter mile in 75 seconds and could easily have been ~100th at that point (probably a good bit over 100). Was pleased to come through the mile in 5:16, felt pretty good. Ramped up the effort in mile 2 to maintain pace, passed some people but not nearly as many as I expected would be coming back. Mile 3 was tuff, the wheels came off for sure. I had some fits and starts of trying to pick back up to a decent pace, but couldn't keep it going. Mentally the race didn't drag on (it was over with quite quick) but just couldn't keep my legs driving over the last mile. Waiting on official results but was ~75th place (jk 91st), just under 2' back from the winner (Nisky grad Louis Serafini).

Good benchmark race, more or less ran what I thought my fitness was at - hoped for better, but not disappointed. Got a lot of work to do though! JD gives this a 61.5, == to a 34:36. 4 weeks until Bridge Run which will presumably be a more difficult course than this one, but I think I should definitely be PRing based on today and if I get a little fitter over the next month can hopefully run 34' / hang with Paul.

Road 5k PR by 14 seconds (2013 Cohasset Turkey Troy).

No cooldown, but planning on a long double this afternoon.

Sounds like a good plan... if I was planning on running 34' that is! ;) ;) ;)

Inspired by our boy Liam I've decided to start every run with a 110% sprint
