Notes

2nd Annual Titans TC Alumni turkey trot. Had my eyes firmly set on this race all season - cross country was just the precursor to this main event. Showed up nice and early so I could warm up by myself, rocking a racing kit of the Alumni singlet and my only once worn Vic XCs. As we drewb close to race time,i had a chance to survey my competition- most notably Ryan, Christian, and Johnny. All accomplished d1 runners for sure, but Ryan had done a"workout" before, and the other two are just baby frosh just WAITING to be taught a thing or two about respect. The race went off and the four of us went right to the front, along with that crybaby Jesse. I was content to let them dictate the pace early on, but to my surprise it quickly turned into a serious jog fest (d1 runners AM I RIGHTj). Given the nature of the course- a wet, slippery, soft narrow trail- I was forced to just sit on them as we strolled to a 7 minute First mile. Should have made a move on the open stretch of grass just after the mile, but just waited and soon my opportunity was gone again. FINALLY as we hit two miles the course opened up much more and everyone began winding up. Moved to the front with 1 turn to go and never looked back. Then - disaster. Hit a puddle at speed on the final turn and felt my legs fly out from under me. First one, then the other, and finally the 3rd passed me and finished it off. Rather then get up and take an undeserved 4th, I sat in the mud and cried until Paul Cina came by, picked me up in his strong plastering arms, and carried me home.

Jay Kay got horrible food poisoning last night and spent the whole night puking, dry heaving, and not sleeping. Against my better judgement still went to the race this morning and was convinced to jog it for my pride and"for the streak". Minimal chance I get back out there today... Even smaller chance that I eat anything at Thanksgiving dinner!
