Friday 5/29 Runs, Rests and good bye Puppies ..... (Read 524 times)

Mr. Chip & Mizz Rizzo

    Good moring gang.

I've taken the last few days off just to get some rest and my plan is to get back into my normal routine starting Sunday.   Tomorrow I will be busy saying good bye to the final 5 puppies.  Sad     Probably why I did some tossing and turning last night.  I will miss them - but I won't  miss all the work ....

    Happy Friday!!!

That's sad Mary.  They were (and are) adorable.  You'll have another batch soon enough I'm sure!

4 GA miles this morning.  I seem to have a fair amount of gas in the Tank and no real pains or aches.  Itching for another chance ...

        We'll miss the puppies too.

And finally.....I'm sure Tim is keeping in touch with some of you......I was thinking about him today.....hope he's got his head in the right place....say HI to him for me.

Mary, that is a really cute puppy. I hope he's going to a good home.

I was running on the MKT trail in Columbia, MO early this morning.  It had rained overnight, so temp was around 60 - IRC for this area.  I was on the return leg of my out and back - enjoying all of the cardinals - when a rock jumped up out of nowhere and snagged my toe.  Of course, I went flying and landed on my left hand.  Cracked one of the metacarpal bones and gashed up the hand pretty good.  The friend I was staying with works with a specialty medical practice (how convenient) and took me in to see a hand specialist before I could protest.  They dug the gravel out of hand, bandaged me and sent me on my way.  The worst part of the whole thing is that I trashed my Garmin when I landed.  The bone will heal, but I think the Gamin is a total loss ........sob......  I did finish the 7 mile run ;-).

Now I'm going to take my pain pill and go to bed.  I have an early flight back home tomorrow, and I have to run a trail race tomorrow night - provided I don't have any flight delays.

Sue – Ouch!  And you’re running a trail race tonight?  Ouch again!

Mary – hard to let them go, but I’d bet it will be nice to get back to the normal routine.  Be sure to give Hailey lots of love this week, as it’s probably harder on her to see her babies go.

Bill – while you’re still in top shape, have you thought about finding another marathon in, say, a month?

1.75 miles on the TM, then my usual Friday lower body routine, plus superman lifts, front raises, bench dips, reverse flies, stability ball crunches and 4 chin-up, one at a time.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

AT felt decent today after the run...first time in a while.

              That's good news to read!

              Sue, hope you are feeling better this morning.  {{{ }}}

4 miles with Renee this morning -- after running my older daughter around the block and having my 2 yr old run to the neighbor's driveway and back. (not even 25' each way).  He usually won't even do that much, but deparately wanted to be dressed and out there like his big sis, so I consider this a huge accomplishment for him.

Now, I have time to enjoy my smoothie and figure out what I'm supposed to be doing today!  We're on day 4 or 5 of fog, and it's getting on my last nerve!  May.  At the beach.  Fog.  Meh.

Back in the saddle again.  Easy 4 miles in some really swampy weather.  I felt a little wobbly at first but, given the conditions, did well.

                Be safe. Be kind.

No run today. Shin aches a little after yesterday's run. Got to the Y early and did my squats, bench and hang power cleans, pull-ups and dips. Then did sprint intervals on the crossramp and some shin strengthening exercises and stretching. Took some Aleve a little bit ago and will ice the shin tonight and hope I can run in the morning.

Bill (whispering), think Tinman.  Start anew.

6.2 yesterday and 4.5 today at easy pace.  Yesterday I did my first core and flex workout in over a week as I was concerned about my back, but I am good as new.  I think I may race on Sunday as a TT just to see if there is any improvement and to adjust my track paces.

We are getting super weather here in N. TX, cool, dry mornings, then of course high 80's in the late morning.  It's about 72 degrees when I run at about 8 a.m.    Spareribs

awwww what a sweet little puppy face to start out the day with!  I'm sad that they are leaving too - but I bet they are all going to great homes and would have lots of love and attention poured out on them daily!

Holly - say hi to Tim for me. I hope he's doing better this week.  Has he made any decisions yet about Seattle?

Perfect morning weather here in So. Oregon - mid 60's, no humidity, I just love it! Yesterday got a bit humid in the afternoon and for the first time we actually turned our air on for the night. Should hit around 90 again today so depending on how productive I am this morning, I may go to the gym again during my lunch hour for a TM run.  My son is on a field trip today - out to the coast. Generally, the Oregon Coast is quite a bit colder and much windier than it is here (about 1.5 hrs inland), but today is forecast for sunny and mid 70's.

28 days til Rock & Roll time! Whoo hoo!!

SueT48 Sorry to read about your hand.  Good news is that it does not seem too serious.  The better news is that you can still write about running a race this weekend despite the hand!  Maybe the best news are those pain pills . . . just how good are they?

Walt.RB  Part of the problem is that the IFSM has not sponsored any research into shoes types and injury rates.  Instead they are just touting shoes by those sponsoring them.  Even if they now funded research I would worry.  True it would be better than nothing, but certainly not as good as having an independent institution (i.e. one that did not depend on a particular shoe company for support) do the funding.

hopeful4ever  Better to be giving them away than to do what my SIL has done.  She keeps them!  Now she is the proud, and in my view totally out of her mind, owner of seven jack russells!  Good thing she trains race horses for a living.  In the morning she and her spousal equivalent go to the track to work and the dogs are let loose to knock themselves out.

breger1  That is the great thing about racing.  If you can run, there will be another race.  Good luck with your next training cycle.

SteveP  Maybe a carbon fiber watch would be lighter.    I have to remember your line about the size of the watch and being able to see the numbers.

Today was my every other gym day which due to traveling has been rather sporadic.  I may try working out in the gym both Saturday and Sunday as I have a PT appointment on Monday and will likely want to avoid going to the gym as well.

Live like you are dying not like you are afraid to die.

Sue, I'm sorry to hear about your fall with damage to your hand, wrist, and Garmin.  The fact that you finished the run makes you like a lot of us here.  Is that dedication or craziness?  hopeful, having the puppies gone has to be bittersweet.  Peter, I'm glad to hear of your AT improvement.

Nice long run for srlopez  yesterday.  Good job on the speedwork for spareribs, deez, and Holly.

This morning, it was in the low 50s and there was just a light wind.  I got in 8 miles in a bit over 1:15 for a 9:22 pace.

A good day and good runs for all.

This visual I'm getting is of total, but hilarious, chaos.

Sue - Ouch!  Just run with your hand up in the air and your finger won't swell as bad.   Boo hoo about the Garmin.  Doggone it.

Got up too late to do my 30 min of cycling to nowhere, so it was just an hour of core/strength.  Have decided to forego anymore lunges as they make my right knee feel wonky.  Will substitute step ups w/weights. Am also doing step downs and Bulgarian squats w/weights, so getting plenty of quad work in.  Also have changed the overhead lift (not shoulder presses) to single arm lifts and wowza!  My triceps are really feeling it.  Yee haw!

Tomorrow will be a 16-mile trail run followed by 10 trail miles on Sunday.  I should be sufficiently pooped come the end of the weekend.

                            Have a good one ~

no, I don't have his email. Maybe I missed where you had mentioned it.

I have emailed with him before - but it's always been in a reply to something he sent me first and then I never took the extra step of saving his email in my address book before deleting the email as I was cleaning out my inbox.
