Temp 48 (WC 43) Wind 12 mph.

Textbook Hal Higdon Tempo Run. Five minutes to get HR in 160-170 zone, then 20 minutes at that effort. Will be on track for duration, but 12 mph headwind on one of the straights will provide some resistance.

First check of Garmin just prior to first 5-minute alert and I'm in range. Settle in and check about every 800-1200 meters. Steady at 166-167. Hear 3rd mile chirp and think it was awful early. This may be good? Got a little pumped and sped up. Was at 171 coming out of a late turn, so backed it down for finish.

7:00 minute miles @ 166 Ave. HR. 22:50 of 25:00 minutes in target zone. Minimal upward drift. Best ever. On ragged legs to boot.
